An in-depth interview with Qari Salahuddin, the Jihadi in-charge of Faryab Province

Faryab districts

Qari Salahuddin is the resident of Almar district of Faryab province. When we visited him for an interview, he was surrounded by several other Mujahidin, but he approved to answer our questions with great pleasure.

Question: Qari Sahib, if you could tell us about major achievements during the span of last year inside Faryab province!

Qari Salahuddin: In response to your question, I would like to say that during the span of last year, Mujahidin had very significant achievements inside Faryab province. Among them were the demolition of various military check-posts and pushing back the militias from those areas. With the start of ‘Khalib Bin Waleed’ operations, within a few months, the Arbaki militais of the enemy has been completely cleansed from Qaisar, Alamar, Khwaja Musa, Daulat Abad and Chilgazi districts of this province. Mujahidin carried out huge group attacks on the enemy strongholds in the above mentioned districts. In the wake of these attacks, Arbakis, police and other local mercenary officials either fled from the area or surrendered to Mujahidin or were killed. At the time being, more than 90% area of these districts is under our control.

Without any exaggeration, we can say that during the year 2013, Faryab province has witnessed a complete change from Jihadi point of view; as Mujahidin have conquered several areas. Nearly 90% of these ten districts of Faryab province are controlled by us. Similarly, by the grace of Allah Almighty, Mujahidin are present in large numbers and are well organized in all these areas. Once we launched offensive operations inside Qaisar and Chalagzi district against the enemy; there were nearly 1100 Mujahidin who participated. From here, one can imagine the force and strength of the Jihadi fronts. The next thing is that the level of public support has increased tremendously. People are fully supporting us in all those areas which are under our influence. As a matter of fact, we conquered all these areas with the direct support of the masses.

Question: You mentioned that 90% areas of ten districts have been liberated; would you like to tell us the names of these districts!

Qari Salahuddin: Almar, Qaisar, Chalgazi, Khawaja Musa, Shirin Tagab, Daulat Abad, Pashtun Kot, Laolash, Bandar and Gorziwan are those districts where the enemy only has a symbolic presence while more than 90% area is under the control of Mujahidin. Moreover, nearly half of the central Andkhoi district is also liberated. Only Khani Charbagh, Balchiragh and Qaramqul are areas where still the enemy has presence and control.

Question: You mentioned some successes of the Jihadi operations during current year; if you could tell us about some of these important Jihadi operations!

Qari Salahuddin: The total number of our Jihadi operations during the span of last year reaches up to 213; but I would like to mention a few significant and successful ones after the announcement of ‘Khalid bin Waleed’ operations.

A large scale attack was launched in the suburbs of Qaisar and Chalgazi districts where the enemy had set up Arbaki militia. In these operations, 1100 Mujahidin participated and consequently 19 military check posts of the enemy were conquered. Sanjitak, Borghan, Yaka Bagh, Quchqar, Chinar and Kakari areas inside Qaisar district were liberated. Similarly, the area of the people of cave and various other regions inside Chalgazi district fell to Mujahidin. These were quite significant and successful operations in which the morale of the enemy was irreparably crushed. As a result of these operations, more than 100 soldiers and Arbaki militiamen gave up their weapons and abandoned opposing Mujahidin.

Similarly, in the beginning of November last year, large operations were also carried out inside Almar district of Faryab province in which nearly 700 Mujahidin participated. The enemy had come there with full might including the foreign forces and their internal stooge forces. But Mujahidin were strong enough to defeat them. These operations lasted for two consecutive days in which 22 soldiers including the corps commander ‘General Aman’ were killed while eight of their military tanks were also destroyed. In these operations of Almar district, only three Mujahidin were martyred and four others were wounded.

Among the significant operations of the previous year were the operations of ‘Khawaja Musa’ district which were carried out inside ‘Atta Khan Khawaja’ area against the military check posts of the frontier forces of this district. In these operations, nearly 400 Mujahidin participated and consequently, this area was completely liberated from the enemy. The main base of the frontier forces was conquered. Commander Samad, one of their leaders, was killed and the remaining forces fled.

On 19th November of the previous year, large scale operations were launched inside ‘Shakh’ region of Almar district. Shakh is compromised of a large area and has its own central bazaar. This area was previously controlled by the enemy but Mujahidin whose strength was 800 persons, launched operations in this area at the above mentioned date and the enemy was defeated after fierce fighting which lasted for one day. Eight military tanks of the enemy were destroyed and 39 of their soldiers and Arbaki militiamen were killed. One Mujahid was martyred and 4 other were wounded in these operations.

The above mentioned attacks were the major operations which were launched after the announcement of annual operations of ‘Khalid bin Waleed’ and by the grace of Allah, all of them were quite successful which resulted in the liberation of vast areas of this province.

After the start of annual operations of ‘Khalid bin Waleed’, several commanders, group leaders and other detrimental personalities among the enemy ranks were killed. The total number is 37 persons. Among them were the corps commander ‘General Aman’ of Shahin regiment; Commander Abdul Ghaffar, the head of commando forces; General Sarwar, the head of ‘Pashtun Kot’ Arbaki militia; Ghulam Mohammad of Almar; ‘Auliya Qul’ and ‘Khal Zabit’ of Shirin Tagab; Mohammad Zahir of Balchiragh and commander Kamal of Alamr district are some worth mentioning personalities.

Question: You mentioned that several large regions of Faryab province are now under the direct control of Mujahidin. Has peace and stability been restored in these areas and have various civil services been provided to its citizens?

Qari Salahuddin: We have restored the situation of law and order in all the liberated areas to the best of our abilities and resources available. The top necessities of the people are civil services, courts and education etc. In the field of education, I have exact information about Almar district that there are 15 madrassa, 7 Darul Huffaz (Holy Quran memorization centers) and 3 orphanages where the children of the masses acquire basic education. As far as the detailed information in the field of educations is concerned, we have a separate organ for it named ‘The Department of Education’.

Approximately 95 percent of the law suits inside Faryab province are solved by courts of the Islamic Emirate. The reason is that there is no corruption in our courts and all the cases are tackled in the light of Islamic Sharia.

Question: In the end, if you have any message to be conveyed to the readers?

Qari Salahuddin: I would like you to convey my message to the masses and honorable countrymen that there has been false propaganda disseminated against Mujahidin for the past several years. Now they have witnessed the realities for themselves and they have realized that the Mujahidin are neither alien people nor stooges of anyone else. They are your own brothers and sons. You should have realized that the enemy is trying to deceive the people and they should never rely upon this propaganda. We understand that after discerning the reality, you have increased your co-operation with Mujahidin, but we hope that this co-operation will be further increased in the future. You will pull out your brothers and sons working inside the enemy ranks as you have observed the cruelty and brutality of the enemy who has no pity for Afghans and the Muslims.

You witnessed the dead bodies of women and children brutally martyred by the enemy during their operation inside Qaraghilo area of Almar district. Thirteen houses were set on fire. Inside Najar Qala, 42 houses were looted by the brutal soldiers and Arbaki militiamen and the poor and helpless local people were left with nothing.

In fact, these brutal soldiers are the mercenaries of the foreign invaders who are working for the fulfillment of their malicious objectives. You should not be deceived by their propaganda as they have proved by their deeds.

I can assure you once again that you will not be harmed by Mujahidin. Your blood, honor and property will be protected. You saw that we incarcerated all those criminals who had mistreated the civilian people in the disguise of Mujahidin inside Pashtun Kot, Almar, Qaisar, Chalgazi, Lolash, Shirin Tagab, Juma Bazar and Daulat Abad areas. If you have similar complaints against any one else, do inform us so that your voice can be heard.

I call upon the local Ulema (the scholars) to stand shoulder to shoulder with Mujahidin with full devotion as guidance from them is extremely important. The day is not far off that the enemy, the internal as well as the external, will be confronted with a humiliating defeat and once again, we will be able to enjoy a free and prosperous life under the shade of Sharia law in an independent and sovereign homeland and it is surly not difficult for Allah Almighty.
